The main purpose
of creating this site, Noah's World,
was for far away family and friends to
keep up to date on Noah and all that goes on with him. But, I know we do
have some visitors who are also moms of special needs kiddos. And I also know we
have people who visit who are curious as to what it's like to be the Mom of a child
with special needs so I have decided to create this page for you - the
parents of kids with special needs and those who wish to have a better
understanding of what it is like to be the parent of a special needs kid.
I hope through some of the links listed below you find whatever your
looking for - may it be comfort and peace or insight and understanding.
When I am feeling down or sad, I tend to read or search for things that are meaningful to me. They help me to refocus, remember that I am not alone, and not feel so down. These are a few of my favorite writings regarding parents of special needs children. God Chooses Moms for Disabled Children ~ Written by Erma Bombeck years ago, this article describes the process Ms. Bombeck feels God goes through when choosing special mothers for special needs children. Welcome to Holland ~ This piece was written by Emily Pearl Kingsman and describes how most parents initially feel when their children are diagnosed with a disability. (On a personal note, I paraphrase this article when I am trying to explain what it's like to be a special needs parent to someone who is not.) God Sent to me an Angel ~ This poem by Paul Dammon describes how children with special needs are not "broken" yet angels from God.

It's great to also look at other web sites devoted to parents of special
needs kids. Here are a few of my favorites: Postcards from Holland ~ This is a blog that I am a member of. It consists of mothers of children with special needs. We post about our daily life - the good and bad, the ups and downs -as moms of special needs children. |
